rotor warpage(?), '88 5kcstq

Hey all,

Hope everyone had a pleasant holiday and new years. I ended up
driving my '88 5kcstq on my road trip of 400 miles each way.
Rather uneventful, no flats, tickets, or strandings.

My car was certainly more pleasurable to drive than my Saturn has
been. I got an alignment, flat repair, and all wheels balanced
before I headed out. Very comfortable and decent power. Cruising
at highway speeds is a strong point, I would have to say. I had no
cruise on the way out, but my friend reattached the vacuum "pin
switch" for the clutch pedal, which fixed the cruise problem. It's
funny, but I didn't even use it much on the way back, but on the
way out, I felt like I really missed it.

While visiting friends, I put the car "through its paces". This
included slamming on the brakes from about 60 or 80 mph to test
them out. I ended up locking it up and sliding. It took me a while
to let off the brakes, because it caught me by surprise that it
locked up. It slid in a straight line for a while. After that, I had a
new problem. The car now has a vibration, a bit of a shake of
sorts. It's either flat spots on the tires, or warped rotors, I think. I
suppose it could be a wheel bearing going out, but I'm not sure how
to relate that to my brake check.

My plans are to inspect everything, and probably take the rotors to
have them turned. If anyone has any pointers, I'd like to hear them.

Thanks,

Ken
