boy-racer brakes -Not all Porsche brakes are the sam

We are talking about a comparatively small Porsche system here, not big
reds with 330x30 rotors, no millions of pistons like alcon or AP stuff. My
system runs on Boxster calipers, I think they may be the smallest calipers
Porsche now offers, and a 312x25mm rotor. Not all Porsche brakes kits are
the same, don't group them together.
The A8 runs this same size rotor with a floating caliper as I do, the
S4tt runs an even bigger rotor stock. The RS2 ran a huge system stock, the
RS4 runs bigger brakes stock. My brake are small, lighter than stock, don't
fade, and stop way better than the stock brakes. Now we can call them boy
racer brakes or whatever. Go out and compare a car with Bira System 1
brakes and then drive one with stock brakes. If you don't notice a
difference I'd get to the neurosurgeon ASAP cause you ain't go no feeling in
your butt:)
The stock brakes on these cars are not powerful enough, at least not for
my driving style, plus I am eventually going to hit the track with my car.
I am not a fool either, I change my fluid yearly, this past year it got
changed 5 times due to me switching brakes and fixing clutch hydraulics. My
stock pads are PBR metal master's, not the best, but they shouldn't fade or
slag ridiculously. The rotors are stock, not slotted, drilled, or
powerdiscs.
Many people switch to G60's with the TYP89's. They increase their
unsprng weight by around 10lbs. per side for more braking power. I have
reduced my weight by 4lbs. per side, increased stopping power, and fade
resistance by a fair amount. I also run 205/45 16" rubber which will not
lock up readily with the stock brakes, might run 225/40 next spring.
And no my rotors are not drilled, if I wanted to be a boy racer I would
have done that, painted my calipers bright red, and added some huge stickers
to my car a long time ago. Instead I have 3 slots per side on the rotors,
gray calipers which are nearly invisible to the unwitting eye, and I hate
stickers!
Cheers!
