It doesnt make sense at all! Even if you have stock engine, the bigger brakes
allow you to hold your speed much closer to the turn, before you have to brake.

If you've ever watched Formula 1 racing, you'll see one of the driver try this
"stunt" and "brake" past his opponent, i.e. holding his speed a tad longer, and
slamming his brakes just as he pass the other car going into the turn.
