I'll have to disagree on this one.
As the clutch packs within an automatic transmission wear, the particles
from the clutch packs end up in the transmission fluid, thereby
contaminating it. My personal preference is to change the fluid AND the
filter/screen in an automatic transmission every 30,000 miles.
Of course I've only ever owned ONE automatic transmission equipped car,
an '81 AMC Eagle Avant (almost wish I still had it, ugly car, but went
through the snow nice).
