Is a CGT a good choice for a rally car?

Hi all,

I'm planning on getting into rally racing and was considering different cars
to start looking for.  I know the 4kq is a great car, however I also love
the CGT and am considering going that direction instead of having to compete
against all the other 4wd cars that will be in the classes with the 4kq.
Anyone been there done that?  Any particular year that is better than
another in the CGT (other than the 87.5... i know about that being the best
of the CGT)?
