Thomas Hi,
I would suggest you take a look at the turbo's turbine axle for in/out and up/down play.
Take care
Pantelis

Subject: High pitched whistle at positive turbo pressure
Fellow Audifans,
I've come to the list once again to ask for some advice on a problem I'm having with my newly turbo converted 4kq. When I apply the throttle and the manifold pressure becomes positive, a high pitched whistle can be heard from the engine compartment. I've checked all of the usual hoses. The idle screw is tight, and the dipstick doesn't leak. The whistle gets very loud a high boost and decreases as the boost goes down. There are no noises when the manifold is under vacuum. I'm getting almost 5 psi boost from the manifold according to my boost gage. I believe I should be getting about 6.1 psi when there are no leaks. The problem has existed for some time, and I can't seem to pinpoint the leak. After all, I can't exactly be under the hood when positive boost occurs. Engine temperature doesn't affect the whistle. Is it possible one of the engine gaskets are leaking? I was told a gasket leak usually only occurs until the oil has circulated. I'm a bit frustrated, and am running out of ideas. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Tom B.
