Rear Camber Plates

A friend of mine in Germany had an Audi 80 FWD that had custom rear
camber plates installed. He claimed it was needed for high speed turns to
keep the rear end planted. He said the 80 FWD models are prone to snap
spins, very sudden loss of traction in the rear, violent. His shop attested
that this is a design flaw of the rear suspension and the lack of downforce
on the rear of the car. I have yet to experience a high speed spin, but the
car has spun in snow before, in this manner, very suddenly the rear just
takes off. What is the consensus on camber plates for the rear of a FWD
car? They can be machined to any camber wanted, within a range of course.
I'd want a slight negative increase, but not much as it also widens the
track of the rear, rubbing can increase, or it can actually decrease with
more of negative camber.
