That was my point in the first place (posted to the rally-l list then
imported here by another cross-dresser ;-) Plus I won't have to deal with the
monkey lads in the various service departments of DC area Audi dealers nor
AoA's ludicrous customer satisfaction standards (which are basically aimed at
pi$$ing off the buyer of a new Audi).

I'll admit that when I went to the DC Auto Show and sat in an Impreza RS and
then sat in the S4 Avant, it was like the day I drove my 72 Datsun 510 over
to the local Alfa dealer and sat in a new GTV. It was a revelation, but what
did the extra $$$ buy me in terms of performance? Practically nothing.

However, I will wait to make my final decision. I won't buy one sight unseen.
I have to be convinced. But suddenly there are a few other new contenders for
my pocket change. The new Nissan Z car (again I'll need to be convinced) and
the new BMW Mini Cooper S.

In the meantime, I am happy to be free of the clutches of the local dealers
now that my warranty is expired. I will continue to drive my modded A4 quite
happily, but when the time comes to buy a new car, it's Bye-Bye Audi. Which
is a shame. I've been a VW/Audi owner for 4 generations of cars. I like the
cars overall, but I can't stand the dealer experience anymore.
