repair rear-axle mountings on typ 43 Audi

Hi group,

Is it possible to 'self-repair' the mountings for the trailing 
arms of the back-axle of my 1982 Audi 100 (typ 43)??
I assume the whole axle is to be removed to do this..
How are the bushes where the trailing arms 'rotate' in the 
mountings on the car's bottom removed (metal-rubber 
bushes)??

Hope there is a solution for Audi's problem that will 
become lethal when nothing can be done...
