Wow - stretching the GT legs, with the new engine...

Came off of a favorite on-ramp today. 60plus mph corner, onto a downhill
then uphill straight. Not wanting to lose my license, I took it easy, and
didn't go all out. However, stayed in third, then punched it midway through
the corner. To redline, into fourth, started down the hill. Passed a car at
a high rate of speed, looked down. I had maybe gone 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile. I
was now over 90mph - tough to tell with the digidash, since it moves upwards
in 3's, and lags behind, but I think I hit about 95 mph before backing way
off. The fastest I had ever gone there in the GT was about 80. Wow. And it
was still pulling like a banshee. A few tweaks, and I think it'll really
pull. Quite sure that I'm over stock hp by a long shot, because the car is
much faster than the CSQ. Probably turning about 135 or so, that's my best
guess. Trying to get in touch with the dyno guy, so we can really find out.
I think there is more potential there, though - it still doesn't quite feel
right. Close, though. The header is leaking, so I have to go back to the
mechanic Monday. Hopefully it's an easy fix. Driving rather easily over the
past 100 miles, I've gotten about 19mpg. Car doesn't like to start easily,
and runs poorly when cold still. Don't know about that one - it's on the
list. However, it finally has some guts. BTW, that acceleration run was
with a full tank of gas, something that hinders the lower hp cars. Just
thought I'd let everyone know what was up, and that there was a smile on my
face for the first time in a while....

Later!
