Per,
Good points- that probably explains why the Brits
love the Subaru with all of those great twisty
roads.
I'm not really comfortable driving at high speeds
in the A4/S4- the wheelbase seems to be too short
to get that feeling of rock-solid stability. I have
no problem taking my type 44s or the C5 A6 or the
A8 up to high speed, but the A4/S4 seems too small.
Our A4tqw doesn't really feel stable at speeds of
100+ mph. My 200q feels rock solid even at 115-120mph
and will be even better once I upgrade the shocks from
the OEM Boges.
I don't attribute the A4/S4's feel to the suspension
tuning, because I've driven these cars with the non-sport
base suspension, the sport pkg. suspension and w/
two variants of H&R coilovers and they don't have the
high-speed stability (IMHO) of the bigger cars. However,
with the right setup, they're a lot of fun in the
twisties, more fun than my 200q will ever be.
Ideal setup for me would be to have the A4tqw as a daily
driver and my 200q20v or an UrS4/S6 as a long-distance
cruiser.
Taka
