Listers,
Went to the Detroit Auto Show on Sunday. Nice to finally see the S8 and R8
in person. Amazing looking cars! The R8 looks alot smaller than I imagined
it. Looks much bigger on T.V. I suppose. Was kinda suprised that they did'nt
show the new A4's at all. I talked to some guys from AOA about it and they
thought that they should have shown them too. They were giving away some
posters and stuff to the masses. One of the posters is the "20 years of
Quattro" featuring a S1(?)short Quattro. Nice to see they hav'nt forgotten
thier past completely...now if they can get thier dealerships to do the same
thing!

Got to spend some time in the "hospitaliy" area upstairs. To get in one must
show thier Audi key. Talked to alot of owners, dealers and AOA types. Nice
atmosphere and a pleasant place to relax and take things in. To my suprise
most of the AOA people who asked me about what car I owned(885K) seemed to
acknowledge them as "great" or "nice" cars. Struck up alot of talk about how
"wonderful" the 5 cylinder engines were etc. Suprised as I expected to be
brushed aside if I didnt own an newer A4 or A6...etc. If anyone is in the
Detroit area I would suggest checking out the show...

Oh I forgot, everyone was talking about some sort of incident that happened
over by the Hummer Exhibit Saturday night. Apparently two groups of people
exchanged blows and a full on fight ensued. To make things worse someone
yelled "shots fired" and a small stampede insued. Pretty lame...some people
need to get thier sh!T together.
