worth... not much *on paper*. >>
Argh, please don't remind me of the math. I was just using this same
arguement to try and convince my wife it was not worth dumping big dough
into her 1985 Ovlov 240 DL wagon. Retail book is ~2k and I am dumping
somethting on the order of $1500.00 into thing to give it a new lease on
life because "she loves her car and wants *it* fixed" ...sigh.
Funny thing is, in my town at least, take retail book at about double it
and that is the going price for used 240 wagons...sick people, go
figure. I'll never get over the fact that I paid almost twice as much
for her Ovlov as I did my 5ktq and yet the 5ktq is the one I trust for a
road trip. Hmm...
You're correct Huw, one should not pay more than KBB Retail *less*
reconditioning which would put virtually all type$$s in the free price
range ;-) I suppose it is an emotional thing really and in reality we
are talking about cars which cost less than the sales tax in my state on
most new cars I would be willing to drive.
