What do I look for on a 5000CS quattro?

We're trying to help him avoid spending more than the car is worth, is
all.  Which the examples he gave might have made him do if they suffered
the "typical" syndromes.

Anyway, what are we, a bunch of people who try to sell old Audis to
justify our ownership of them?
