thats one way to kill an type44 auto tranny for sure!!   
i dont drive my 5kt like its a 5 speed.  thats why the tranny has lasted.  i 
dont drive like a granny either, but im easy on the startouts.  no 
"jackrabbit starts".  And when i shift into drive from reverse or whatever, i 
wait a sec until i step on the gas. most of my high speed driving is hwy, 
cruising speed.  today on the PA tpke i was following a A6, and cruised at 
about 90-95 mph for about an hour and a half until i got to my exit.  the 
automatics can cruise at the same top speed as the 5 speeds. change your ATF, 
check your final drive oil, dont beat on your tranny, and it will last a long 
time.
