maybe because they think the wheels could spread... but your ball joints
should still hold them together, right?  The jackstands sound like a
good safety measure to have going though.

who knows?  maybe you will figure it out as you go... you will have to
tilt the engine back a bit, maybe that is why - but removing the black
airbox to engine hose ought to be enough!

well, the downpipe is in the way of dropping the tranny, right?  So it's
gotta come out.  If eithe the DP or manifold gets hurt don't worry, I
have spares...

lots of rust breaking soak, go slow getting the nuts going, go slow
taking them off and with luck you will be ok.
