High Speed

A couple of reasons.
The big two are
1) DRAG Coeficient.
5k is between .31 and .33 depending on models. (Or very
close to this. If anyone writes me and says (no, the prototype
was .30 I'll scream) :-) Now, the 4kq is like .44 or
somewhere around there. BIG difference. Thats also why the
heavier type 44's can get better highway fuel economy.
2) GEARING
The type 44 has a 3.89 (I think) Final Drive. The 4kq is
4.11. Also the 5th gear ratios are different. The 4kq is like
.79 or something. The 5tq is .73 I believe with the 5kq closer
to the 4kq. Also, larger tires on the 5k cars help as well.
Other reasons are more sound insulation, less wind noise (cf
again) and the longer body / wheelbase is better suited to
highway travel. Not to mention a stiffer chassis.
All in allthey are much better on the highway. However, in the
twisty's or in the city I prefer the 4kq. And the 4ktq gives me
the power that I love so much in the 5ktq.
Happy driving
Todd
