memorable driving

OK, heres my stories :)

in 1993 when I was in the military and stationed out in California, right
near John Lawson at Vandenberg AFB (Lompoc, CA), I was driving down to San
Diego to visit girlfriend and her family. Its about a 275 mile trip,
normally about 5 hours. Driving my 1992 Golf GL (great great little car,
went like hell:) ) and ended up playing highway tag with this very very hot
brunnette in a bright red 300Z. We kept passing each other for over an
hour, laughing and smiling at each other. It was so much fun. Btw, i made
the trip in 4 hrs 15 min. Heheheh i think i did about 90 for nearly 3/4 of
the trip :) It was fairly easy to avoid the CHP, all I had to do was keep a
sharp eye out in the rear view and watch for cars catching up to me. If any
did I would let them catch up close enough to see what they were, found 4
or 5 CHP guys behind me that way.

a couple years later, in Lompoc Ca, where i had bought an 86 coupe GT. The
end of town has a road that goes up into the mountains essentially to a
radar site so its very lightly traveled. Its also very twisty and mostly
going uphill. Blasted up that road hugging every corner, god that was a
great day. I love my 5ktq now, but i sure do miss the handleing of that
coupe.

Around the same time as the coupe run, was coming back from Santa Barbara
(about an hour drive) with my future wife, we had been down at the bars
drinking and having a great night. was literally about 3 miles from my
house, when i fell asleep going around a turn, drove off the road, down the
30' incline into the bushes in her car (a 1994 Hyd Excel). We got pulled
out by a tow truck, and the only damage was a few scratches to the paint
that i buffed out and the antenna mount broke. I was lucky that night, if i
had gone off the road a 100yrds earlier, it was a 50-75' drop into rocks and
trees!

And finally, about 3 weeks ago, high speed run coming back from being
called into work at 2am. Highway was completely deserted, so i floored it
and tried to bury the needle in my 5ktq. I hit about 135 mph, not bad
considering my car currently is running retarded due to a missing tooth on
the ring gear, therefore effecting the ecu's measurements. Can't wait to
see how well she runs with the Eibachs/Blistiens and a new ring gear and the
stebro exhaust i will be installing soon.....
