Hi Y'all,

I guess I'll chime in on this one.

There have been several times I find memorable. One involved an indicated
140 mph with two other list members on a curvy stretch of New Hampshire
interstate highway a couple of Octobers ago. Another involved a convoy of
Audis running about 125-135 mph in western Kansas on the way to Audifest I
at Pike's Peak.

Another involved my ustabe commute one winter afternoon several years
ago. A sudden unexpected snow storm caught the WV DOH by surprise (not
that it would likely have made a lot of difference). There were eight
inches of rutted and unplowed snow on US-60 going up steep and winding
Gauley Mountain about 50 miles east of Charleston. The shoulder was
littered with cars and pee-cups vainly attempting to fishtail crawl up the
mountain. I, in my '89 200tq and totally in control, blasted right on up
the mountain at about 65 mph with rooster tails from all four
corners. Fun. :-)

Another involved a similar situation on I-64 in Virginia. Snow caught the
state by surprise. A pair of glassy looking tire tracks marked the right
hand lane. The left hand lane was packed snow. There was about 14 inches
of snow on the shoulders. I passed one of VA's finest who was doing about
25 mph in the right hand lane. I was running about 55-60 mph in the left
hand lane. He lit up and flagged me over. I pulled into the shoulder area
- well off the highway and he followed. After a session of disparaging
"Yack-yack", "Yessir-Yessir." He let me go. I simply drove off and left
him. The last I saw of him he was still trying to get back to the
highway. :-)
