A lot - more than you could possibly imagine, has to do with aerodynamics.  
Look, for example, at the 20V Ur-Q vs. the S2.  There was a test where they 
ran the two cars, essentially mechanically identicle, against each other.  
While the Ur-Q had better handleing and launch characteristics, the S2 was 
judged to be a MUCH better highway car...
