Compact Spares

Interesting to hear the ongoing grumble about compact spares. I heard it
first in 1979 when selling cars...and seems some people just don't like
them. I have never understood why, unless they live down six miles of bad
road. The compact spares work just fine for their intended purpose, which
is to get you to the next place your tire can be fixed. I've used them -
both the compact spare on my 200 and an inflatable spare on my Datsun 280ZX
- and they've always worked perfectly.

Now, if I DID live at the end of a long country road paved with rocks the
size of my fist, I might think about adding a full-size spare. OTOH, if I
had a flat at home, I'd have spare cars and compressed air handy, so then
again, I probably wouldn't.

Cheers - Al Powell
