Why I love my V8...
Just returned to Oviedo from Dallas. Left 02:55 am (FL time), arrived 18:35
pm. 15.5 hours including stops, distance 1170 miles, mpg 20.5. This included
at least 75 miles of single lane construction, near legal speed limits
through 6 cities, etc etc. Arrived fresh, no aches or pains.
I rarely if ever led the pack. I gave that up years ago...
Best run: following an F250 with trailer in front (well over a mile) while he
did 100+ (!) for almost an hour down I10 from Louisiana(I10/I12) to
Pascagoula. Second best: following the Caddie with DC diplomatic plates (!)
at 95 plus down I75 for over an hour. Essentials: V1 and CB...
Close call: Tallahassee - complete nasty setup - one cop 1/2 mile in front of
stationary radar safety clocking unit with X band full on, had person pulled
over. I'm following a semi doing 80 (limit is 55), second of 4 cars
following. Now getting 2 full on signals that switch to rear. Cop on ramp 1/4
mile past clocking unit pulls on behind to catch brave/foolish souls. Now
getting 3 full on signals from behind. Without a V1, you're toast. Last guy
in line gets nicked. There was another cop waiting on the next on ramp...
Sorry I didn't stop by, Bart - had a nasty sinus infection and wanted to get
home... Granddaughter 01 was born 18 Jan, Brianna Starr - 7 lbs, 10.4 oz...
