If you have a switch that is routinely getting hot, you might want to check 
the connections.  I mean make sure each metal terminal is in good shape. 
 Alot of little terminals are heat treated to act like a spring and grip 
the spade pin.  Once they overheat, there is no more heat treat, no more 
grip, and the resistance goes up.  Pull each one out of the plastic holder 
and check for heat damage.  Replace them only with new parts.  This goes 
for relays, headlights, etc... also.
