I can't (or won't). In fact increased resistance will decrease current
draw. It will, however probably build up more heat. As an FYI to the
general list:

I = V/R 

I = current, in Amps
V = Voltage
R = Resistance in Ohms.

If R goes up, and voltage remains the same (which is what the voltage
regulator is for), then I MUST go down. 

One way to think about it, an open (off position) switch is essentially
infinite in resistance. If you switched everything off in your car, house
or flashlight for that matter, how much current would be drawn?
