Snow Packed Rims = Wobbly Wheel

Speaking of donuts and deposits, I looked under my '88 5kcstq
yesterday to look for my "rubbing/noise under hard acceleration"
cause. I found lots of mud from my mud-womping session a while
back, and also from just driving in the mud like a normal person.

Anyway, I noticed my oil cooler was caked with mud on the back
side of it. This would be detrimental to the airflow of course, so I
hosed it off. I thought it would be good to mention that this is
something to watch out for. I guess snow isn't as much of a
problem as mud, at least as far as in the longer term, since the
snow will melt away eventually. I can see where snow might be a
problem for a long enough time to cause damage.

As for my vibration problem I found that not only were most of the
six exhaust hangers I counted worn out, I only had the two bottom
cat to cat-back pipe nuts and bolts, and they were loose. I
tightened the two fasteners, but didn't bother replacing the missing
one yet. It seemed to have fixed my rubbing problem. I found no
evidence of engine mount failure. I didn't use the piece of paper
clearance test as suggested by Phil, but I physically pressed my
fingers at the rubber mounts, and didn't find any tears. I suppose
they could be collapsed and it would be hard to detect. Engine
mounts are on sale right now at TPC, I may pick up a pair for the
4kstq project. I can't remember if I already have some "in stock".

I want to get some chain-style exhaust hangers. I saw a price of
$8 each from Techtonics Tuning (http://www.tttuning.com). Is this
a good price?

Thanks,

Ken
