Aye, 40 F is somewhat balmy, top-down weather for sure!

But as to your suggestion, ummmmm... being a veteran of the "Cold War" (pun
intended), as a "Field Soldier" in dear old Deutschland; during some very
bitter winters during the early 60's, I think I shall pass on your
suggestion.

But if you like self-flagellation, you might want to lead a convoy across
Der Vaterland.  Say, in an open jeep, no canvas and no heater, for about 10
hours.  Let the starting temp be 26 below zero F, and let it warm up to
about Zero.  Then we can sit down and toss back a few shots, and talk about
when we were really cold, once upon a time...

Of course, that was probably pretty balmy to another ex-"Cold Warrior" on
this list.  I've heard that it gets fairly cool over in the Motherland, come
wintertime.
