Anyone been to Bonneville in an Audi?

I have a friend that designs the gear boxes and the differentials for the Turbinator, which is the worlds fastest Shaft driven car (Runs off of a lycoming T55? Turbine into a differential and gear box of some sort)
Last time he was up there he got into the 200mph club in one of their other smaller, slower cars.
He was telling me that this pissed A LOT of people off. The reason being to get into the 200mph club, you just don't climb into a car and go 200mph. You also have to break the previous class record. So if the record is 205.67mph you would have to go 206.68pmh average out of both runs.

Could it be done with an Audi, sure, would it be easy NOPE, would it be Cheap NOPE.... Would be Fun though.

With the Talladega 200, it was never mentioned if it was a one lap from a standing start, or a running start. Also you have to remember that there is a massive climate change in Talladega compared to Bonneville, and engines get a lot less horsepower in Bonneville.

Shouldnt be too difficult to do with a 4.2 V8 or a highly modified 20vI5.

I was having a look at the Land Speed Record web-site associated with the Bonneville Salt flats and I don't seem to see any recognizable Audi names or paraphenalia. Now I know it's been a long time since Audi themselves broke the 200 mph barrier with a highly modified, albeit stock based, 200Q/5000TQ. I was wondering if anybody had considered putting another Q into the 200+ zone for the record books?

Might be a lot of fun. We know it takes 650 ponies with some additional aerodynamic mods, altered gearing and some really tacky looking hood clips but wouldn't it be an interesting exercise?

I've always wanted an excuse to go out west and visit my sister.
