I think some people on the list think all these products are the same
(electrical contact cleaner, contact enhancer, and dielectric tune-up
grease). I think these are all different products, with different
applications.
Contact cleaner is used to clean corrosion and what-not off the
terminals/wires/whatever. If really bad, also use mechanical cleaning
(sandpaper/wire brush).
Contact enhancer is applied once everything is clean to help ensure a good
connection.
Dielectric tune-up grease (I might be wrong on this) is put on the inside of
the spark plug boots (both ends) to make then easy to remove, and can be
applied over terminals that are already together (plugged in) to keep
water/moisture out. Can be used on any rubber boot to keep it from sticking
(temp sender on radiator, MFS, plug for O2 sensor...etc)
Please no flames, this is how I use these products with perfect results.
And Stabilant works wonders - but if I had a 55 gallon drum of it (pure), I
think I could retire...
P.S. Sometimes cleaners and enhancers are combined into the same product.
