OTOH those of us who've been reading comp.risks for a few years might
prefer fully non-programmable devices like the Torsen.

There was speculation during the early months of the TT's life that
some accidents might have been caused by software.  The one involving
the VW Betriebsrat member on the Autobahn north of Hannover is a case
in point - flat, straight, good weather and he suddenly looses all
control of the rear of the car.
