The 5-cylinder isnt straight gone yet! The straight 5 is still in use in the T4 Caravelle (aka
Eurovan) in both gas and diesel applications, and the V5 (aka VR5) is available in the Golf, Bora,
New Beetle and Passat.

Still, Honda must have gotten some inspiration from the VW V5, though. This engine is also available
in the Japanese-spec VWs, AFAIK.
