I am sure that they started this "Black Box" stuff before that.  During
training about installing air bags in pickup trucks - the instructor
mentioned that the control unit kept a number (I think it may have been 3 or
5) of crashes in memory - including dash readout at impact.  That was around
1993 or so.  Maybe they learned from Audi's UA "problem" - two sensors - one
on the brake and one on the gas - might have refuted all that hysteria.
(And my friends wonder why I think The Insider is such a great movie - hey
everybody!  Ethics for sale!)
