Well, I stopped driving it when a connecting rod carved a nice little home
in a crank journal due to bearing failure. The car will actually start, but
I wouldn't do it unless I really had to. As soon as the oil gets thinner
than molasses the oil pressure drops to zero. In the dead of winter that's
about 45 seconds. I was planning to simply replace the bearing until I saw
the crankshaft. After thinking about fixing the car (engine, shocks,
suspension bushings, and brakes) for a few months, I started looking for a
new car. It has been sitting in a garage for about a year. -JP
