Parts pricing and availability.

A bonnet (hood) for an ur-quattro is GBP232.

The same part for a Sport is GBP7602.  That's $10,000!

Raditor grill for ur-quattro - GBP41.  $55 - $60.

The same part for a Sport - GBP3562.  $5000!

Unless you can get the factory on your side somehow (legendarily
difficult) the Sport is hard to finance in competition.
