I have come to believe that most Sport bodywork prices are the result of
someone running their finger down the numeric pad just to put an entry
into the database.  The incident of '9876', '543', etc., is very high.

The Sport wasn't actually built by Audi.  They all carry a plate saying:
"BAUR Karosseriewerk" or something very similar.
