Not that anyone has said so, but making it sound like Ducati invented the
system.  The system was used on the earliest of engines (early 1900's),
but the complexity and expense phased it out.   
Ducati is however the only manufacturer that's even made Desmodromic
engines succeed in the "civilian" market.  The major advantage to this
system is  no floating valves, no matter how high you rev the engine.

Defintily true about the sound it makes, you can tell it's a Ducati long
before a visual is aquired.
