The second of what is likely to be at least three Minnesota ice events/rally
crosses was held last Sunday, January 27 on Lake Cynthia south of
Minneapolis and St. Paul. Nearly 30 cars showed up for the second weekend
in a row -- most were Audi quattros. The course was a bit longer than the
previous Sunday, conditions were colder and humidity was higher making for a
more slippery course. Lap times were slower for everyone, but it was just
as much fun. And, just as at the first event, a lot of horsepower without
studs did not mean the fastest times. It's amazing how one can get faster
lap times by by carefully working the throttle to maximize traction along
with countersteering, left foot brake/right foot gas and e-brake. Wha-hooo!
Quattro Club members Keith Anderson, Chris Deladi and Larry Tivey made the
course tougher by making the chicane at the end of the back straight tighter
and plowing a new right angle and mini sweeper right before the short
straight to the finish. Everyone thanks Greg Youngdahl and his SCCA cohorts
for managing the event. It's likely we'll run again on Sunday, February 11.

Come out and drive with us on February 11! There is some advantage to all
this hard water! As Brandon Hull, the owner of eS2 #1 noted in an email to
me earlier today, "It must be interesting to drive down the track looking
out the side windows." It definitely is!
