NYS Section 1180B Ticket Help

I was stationary radar'd (rear, ticket doesn't indicate type of gun, instant on or whatever) alledgedly doing 81 in a 55 on I-287 E in Rye, NY. Traffic was heavy, and I was near a white Prelude in the left lane and behind a car carrier but still open. I was open and honest with the officer, he asked if there were any problems with my license, I replied "none whatsoever." (been clean for over 7 years). When he asked, "do you know why I stopped you?" I replied, "Honestly, I may have been going a little fast, I was trying to get into the left lane (to connect to I-95) and the white car wouldn't let me in.". He then asked, "do you know how fast you were going?", I replied, "I have no idea." He said he clocked me doing 81 (not really sure, could be, but can't confirm, nor deny....). I expected a lecture, instead he wrote me up. After he wrote me up, I scanned the ticket and noted that there is no place on the form to indicate the traffic control device (i.e. radar, lidar) used, so I went back and asked him how he determined my speed. He pointed to the unit and said it was rear firing radar, but didn't elaborate, and traffic (and his tenor) told me not to push it at that point.

SO, the question: owing to the speed and points, I MUST do something with this, at the very least, limit the points to something other than the number I'm likely to get (5, 6?). I'd be willing to accept, if necessary, some form of speeding violation, just not the more than 15MPH over I'm currently in for. It'd be better to get something like a failure to obey a traffic control device (1 pt) maximum fine (oh, about $120, I figure), if possible, but I'm looking for suggestions. Get a lawyer (I can, through my Union, get one for $50 flat rate), change states, whatever....

TIA,

LL - NY
