It is the same engine in the same sense as the engine in a 1975 Rabbit 1.5 is
the same as in the 2000 Audi TT 225 hp. It IS the same engine.
Also the 1978 1.9 90 hp 5-cyl is the same as the Ur-S4 and Sportquattro engine.
In a way.
But the Porsche 968 engine is NOT the same as the old Audi. The 9 first years of
the 924 (1975-1984) it used the old Audi 4-cyl also known from the original 100.
In 1985 Porsche had a new 4-cyl family, with 2.0, 2.5T, 2.7 and 3.0s for the 924
and 944, the latter which evolved into the 968.
