I realize this is a holiday for some, but if any one is there that can
help, I thank you. I have the 83 5kt auto non-quattro. After removing the
cold start injector, to test for it possibly staying on, which might
account for my rich condition, I placed a plug in the injector hole in the
intake manifold. The plug consisted of a piece of 1-1/2 inch hose over a
piece of a 1 inch hose with a 2 inch bolt in the inner hose. I thought
that this was a tight enough fit, so I had my wife start the car. For the
time it took for the cold start injector to spray into my test jar, and
then stop spraying, the plug held. Then about three seconds later the plug
disappeared and I could hear the noise from the hole in the IM. We shut
the car off right away. I am thinking that the plug went into the IM as I
can not see it any where outside on the engine and the ground. I thought I
saw a mist come out of the hole just before we shut down, so that is why I
looked around outside. I am asking for help on some pointers when removing
the IM so that I don't take off unecessary items or put something out of
adjustment. I want to remove the plug parts before they go into a
cylinder, if they already haven't. I am only on the quattro digest, so
please put a copy directly to me, as I will be checking back frequently for
any answers. Thanks, Tex. 7/4/01 3:37pm.
