First off, thanks to everyone who tried to help, Tony, Dan, Clint, Marques,
Megan, Gary, Dennis, and anyone I might have missed.
I was able to do some troubleshooting on the car, and figured out that the
fuel system was not causing the problem. I jumpered the fuel pump, car
didn't start. Made sure the timing belt was fine, and then checked for
spark with a timing light. Found out that there was no spark. Started
checking things from the dist on back. Found that the hall sensor was
giving voltage fluctuations as it should, but I wasn't getting a signal at
the coil.
I did some of the tests shown in the Bentley (which does not show anything
for the 5-cyl CIS cars, only 4 cyl, and 5-cyl cis E-III, but the 4 cyl are
mostly the same), and the tests were pointing to a bad ignition module. I
pulled the ignition module out, and noticed that it had melted. There was a
1/4" diameter hole melted through the top of the module. So, I talked to my
dealership buddy who has a 4ks parts car, and got his permission to swipe
the module out of that car. Turns out the 4 cyl cars use the same module.
So, I plugged the new ignition module in, and the car fired up on the next
crank. Running perfectly. And, for some reason, the car is starting
immediately and falling into a smooth idle much better than it has in a
long while. It had been starting for a split second, stalling, then firing
on the next start for months. That might be a coincidence though.
Anyhow, the car is running again, and happy for the time being.

Thanks everyone!
