4kq dead- Now fixed! (Ignition module)

The Bosch ignition module is common to many many cars. For instance in
the UK it was fitted to much of the Vauxhall range throughout the 80's.
Although they usually last more than 10 years and 200K they do go bad ,
sometimes very slowly and give typical weak spark symptoms that many people
mistake for bad/weak fuelling. Towards the time they finally give up you may
find your motor cutting out after 5-10 mins and then starting only after 10
mins rest, then stopping again etc.
Once they give out, you're stranded.
The good news, at least in the UK is that the going rate at the junkyard
is £5. I picked up two and always carry a spare.
They are also available rebuilt, but at a price that would get you 8 or
9 secondhand ones.
They are also available in 7 pin and 4 pin config. I'm told they're
interchangeable , but have not tested that theory.
regards
rob
