Gas in trunk

I have had a strong gas smell in the 4000csq for a day or two, but could find no apparent leaks after looking at the tank via the trunk. I just took another look and could see what appeared to be a small wet area to the right front of the gas tank, so I put a piece of paper towel on the end of a stick to reach back there and sure enough it was gasoline.
Are there any lines that run down the front of the tank? I think I saw a line from the gravity/ vent valve running down there.
Any ideas? I hope it can be fixed without removing the tank.
