Sheez,

As a third-generation engineering family, while the beancounters do have 
sway over too much, they don't determine the oil "weight" specified for a 
given engine. Lower weight oils are the norm for the last 15 years or so to 
regain hp/mpg otherwise lost in inefficiency.

Oil standards have improved dramatically in the last decade for even 
conventional "dino" formulations.

Just ask the Nascar boys what they put in for a 500...

Finally, as any *Audi* owner will verify, the clearances on new Audi engines 
are remarkably tight. This ain't your mass-produced chevy with no cooling 
capacity and slop fit parts.
