Audi envy

Feel better.

I just bought a '93 V8. I had to fly to the dealership to pick the car up
and I was met by the salesmanager who drove me the twenty miles or so to the
dealership in his (VERY slightly used) Audi A8. This was the first time
that I had ever been in an A8, so the ride was very interesting.

It was nice.

No better than that: It was WONDERFUL.

BUT, I finished the transaction, and got into my 65,000 mile V8 for the
nearly 600 mile trip to Maine, and realized , first, that my V8 cost used,
about ONE THIRD what that A8 cost, was just as powerful, probably faster or
at least as fast, and in the real world, handled and rode as well; AND
frankly, secondly, the V8 is a MUCH better looking car (IMHO), with its
rather brutish, squared-off pugnacity.

Oh, did I mention that my '93 cost about ONE THIRD the price of that '99 I
rode in?
