I have the rig you are describing.

I use the euro-beam (spots with some lens marks) as the fogs are next to 
worthless (terrible pattern compared to the 550ff). Cooling doesn't seem to 
suffer. I mounted the base bolt through the bumper gaps in the front. 
Picture a 90 deg elbow, with the light forward of the bumper. This allows 
the mount to be full metal to metal contact.
