Fuel line dilemma

I don't think a double flare will work for this. At
least not what we mean by double flare in the USA. 

These are "european" flares on the Audi fuel lines and
they are different in shape. I once made a double
flare on a test line and compared to the original and
they were not even close, although from memory I can't
remember the exact differences.

I did manage to fix a cracked fuel line once by using
a compression fitting to attach a good line piece in
the region of the defective one. I don't know if I'd
recommend it anymore, as this would be a weak link in
the event of a an accident.
