I actually had the hose on my '89 200 spring a pin hole leak back in 
January.  I guess it just sprung the leak as I pulled into a Vons to get 
some money for lunch or right after I turned the car off.  When I went back 
I could see coolant on the ground and I opened the hood and saw it 
squirting onto the block.  I drove the car next door, put a rag over the 
leak to keep the coolant spray to a minimum and called AAA, who then towed 
the car to my mechanic who was about four miles from where I was.

I could have drove the car and it probably would have been fine but the car 
has nothing to prove to me and the tow was free.... $20.00 later (N/C for 
the hose, just time and coolant refill/bleeding) I was back on the road.  I 
am very lucky it happened where it did and not when we took the car out to 
Flagstaff, AZ during New Years!
