Dead ur-q.. idles now

The car is firing up regularly now, but is running rough and idles at 300 RPM 
or so. Also, it pops a lot through the intake. I'm hoping it's the air sensor 
plate, cause I know that it's out of place a little. What else should I be 
looking for that would cause this? Also, when I shut it off after idling for 
5 min or so, I hear a long escape of vacuum coming from inside the pass. 
front fender. Never heard this before. Vacuum canister hose maybe?
At least now I feel like I'm making progress. Was starting to get a little 
discouraged.
