is your AC/recirc flap opening properly? When you press the "AC" switch
it operates a vacuum solenoid which changes the incoming air path via a
flap in the white box under the rear of the hood. You should be able to
see this happen if you remove the flimsy black plastic cover and look in
the passenger (LHD) end of the white box. I'm pretty sure that is
necessary in order for the air the system blows to be drawn through the
evaporator (which is behind the glove box). The vacuum actuator is
mounted on the outside of the white box, in front of it, and the
solenoid is mounted to the drivers side of the box. It could be as
simple as a vacuum line having fallen off or leaking.
There is a chance I may be wrong... since these parts have not been in
my coupe for many years.
