kinda late on this thread but.....
huw and mark s. blew up mark's old 4kq engine about a month ago while i
looked on in despair and captured the event on digital film, trying to
convince them of the evils of bad "car-ma". ha! first the oil was drained and
the engine started. after about 5 minutes it was decided that 2k rpms just
wanst enough and the engine was revved up even more, however i cant remember
how high, maybe 5k? then the fun started! smoke and steam started pouring
out, with all of us scrambling frantically to move our -functional- cars in
case the engine decided to spit out some shrapnel, i think huw and mark were
actually hoping for this. :^) after much ado, about 15 minutes of running
-without- oil, the beast slowly slipped into the otherworld with a tired,
steady whine and a decline in rpms until it just died. sort of anticlimactic,
no flying pistons or the likes. : )
